~ Welcome to Sixth Grade at Y.J.H.! ~
Welcome to life at the Junior High! We are on a mission to make you feel as comfortable with the transition to the Junior High as possible. To do this, we will have orientation for the first couple days of school. This will be a time to get students familiar with hourly class transitions, electives, new friends, and YES, lockers. By the end of the first week of school, students will be full-fledged junior high students and will feel like they've been doing it all for ages! :)
Something new this year is the elimination of teaming as students have followed in the past. This will be a major part of the orientation process, as students will no longer travel as a so-called "herd" together. Instead, students will have an hour-by-hour schedule with mixed combinations of classmates just like our seventh and eighth graders. Students will have a combination of sixth grade teachers that others may not. Not to worry, though; we will get students in the swing of it all by the end of that first week of school. The names of all of the teachers and subjects can be found at the bottom of this page.
As for paperwork that may help with the start to the school year, below you will find the back-to-school letter as well as a suggested supply list. If you have ANY questions for me or any sixth grade teacher, please feel free to e-mail me! We look forward to making this a wonderful year of transition for you and your sixth grader!!
Looking forward to a great school year!
